Being home to several aircraft companies and projects, the city of Wichita in Kansas is known to be “The Air Capital of the World.” It is the place where aircraft pioneers like Walter Beech and Clyde Cessna began projects for the aircraft industry.
From the aircraft business, Wichita evolved to become an entertainment and cultural center and destination with its many parks, museums, nightclubs, and shopping and dining establishments in its downtown district. There are two major shopping malls serving the city–Towne East Square and Town West Square–which are located on opposite sides of the city. Wichita City is also visited for its annual festivals such as the Wichita River Festival and the Tallgrass Film Festival.
There are many attractions and destinations that Wichita has to offer its visitors. Some of these are the Orpheum Theatre, Blackbear Bosin´s The Keeper of the Plains statue, Wichita Art Museum which is the largest in Kansas, the Wichita Gardens, Sedgwick County Zoo, the Ulrich Museum of Art, Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum, the Museum of World Treasures, and the Great Plains Transportation Museum.
