Vancouver City is located in British Columbia, Canada. The coastal city got its name from a British Captain named George Vancouver. For more than a decade, the city has managed to stay on top of the ranks as one of the most livable cities in the world. It lives by its motto: “By Sea, Land, and Air We Prosper.”
Throughout the years, Vancouver has played host to some international events and conferences including the 1986 World Exposition on Transportation and Communication, and the 1976 United Nations Conference on Human Settlements. Plans for the 2010 Winter Olympics, as well as the 2010 Winter Paralympics, indicate that Vancouver and Whistler are to be the location for games.
There are a number of attractions that can be enjoyed while in Vancouver. Some of these points of interest include the Theatre Under the Stars, Stanley Park, Bard on the Beach, the Museum of Anthropology at UBC, the MacMillan Space Centre, Science World and Pacific Coliseum. Some of the festivals held in the city include the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival and Fringe Festival.
