Shanghai is the largest city in China and is it is also one of the largest cities in the world. This status has led Shanghai to be called the "showpiece" of China, which has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. It sits at the mouth of the River Yangtze and is located at the country´s central east coast. Under the governance of the People´s Republic of China, the city is under a province-level status.

Originally a fishing and textile town, the city today is one of China´s most popular tourist destinations. Shanghai is also one of the fastest expanding and modern cities in the country. As a tourist attraction, it is most renowned for the many historical landmarks found there. Some of the top attractions in the city include the City God Temple and the Bund. Aside from being a hub for tourism, Shanghai is also considered a financial center.
