South Korea´s largest capital city with a population of ten million, is currently one of the world´s largest cities. The cities of Incheon and Gyeonggi-do along with Seoul makes up the Seoul National Capital Area. Nearly half of all South Koreans populations live in the Seoul National Capital Area and nearly one fourth in Seoul itself making it South Korea´s leading political, cultural and economic center.

Seoul has been a major settlement for over two thousand years. Found in the Han River in the Korean Peninsula center, its history dates back to 18 BC where one of the three Kingdoms of Korea named Baekje established its capital in what is now south east Seoul. UNESCO World heritage sites include Jongmyo Shrine, the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty, and Changdeokgung. Seoul is a global city and this is proven by its great influence in international trade, politics, technology, business, education and entertainment.
