The capital of New Mexico, Santa Fe, is the oldest and highest capital in the United States. Also called as “The City Different,” Santa Fe is not only an administrative capital but is also a popular tourist destination for its scenic beauty, long and colorful history, and cultural diversity. Its location between desert and mountain makes the city a place filled with outdoor activities and leisure.
The city owes much of its breathtaking scenery to its location on the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Much of its natural beauty has been captured by many artists including Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz. In fact, Santa Fe is designated as a UNESCO Creative City due to the prosperity of its multicultural arts, making it one of the three biggest art market in the United States and a place with a high concentration of visual artists. The city holds the yearly Santa Fe International Folk Art Market every July to patronize its local art.
Other notable places of interest in Santa Fe include the Bandelier National Monument, Barrio De Analco Historic District, Ghost Ranch, Ghost Ranch, Museum Hill, Palace of the Governors, Santa Fe Southern Railway, Ski Santa Fe and The Plaza.
