Reno is a city in Nevada that rests on a high desert valley, sitting at the foot of the Sierras. It has gained the notoriety of being “The Biggest Little City in the World,” mainly due to its many casinos and being the birthplace of Harrah´s Entertainment, a gaming corporation. Natives or residents of Reno are often referred to as “Renonians.” The city was once considered as “the gambling capital” of the United States but that was before Las Vegas rapidly rose to fame.
Reno celebrates a number of events and festivals every year, which draws people to the city. Some of these events include The Great Reno Balloon Race, Cinco de Mayo celebration, Reno Air Races, Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off and Street Vibrations.
Other than gambling leisure and public festivities, Reno also offers a number of attractions to tourists. Included among these are the Artown, Nevada Museum of Art, Reno Pops Orchestra, Sierra Arts, Wilbur D. May Arboretum Botanical Garden and La Bussola & Center Gallery.
