Louisville is the largest city in the State of Kentucky. The residents in the city are often referred to as “Louisvillians,” whereas the city is called by many names such as “Derby City,” “Gateway to the South,” “River City,” “The ‘Ville” and “Falls City.”

Over the years, Louisville City has managed to develop in a timely manner. Many special events have been celebrated and festivals have been observed. These festivals are not only observed by the natives to celebrate their heritage but also serve as tourist magnets that lead tourists to flock to the city. Some of these festivals include the Humana Festival of New American Plays; Abbey Road on the River, which is the largest Beatles Festival; Kentucky State Fair and Bluegrass Balloon Festival.

Aside from these festivals, Louisville also has a number of attractions that draw people to visit the city every year. Some of these attractions include the Old Louisville, The Highlands area, Old Jefferson Historic District, Conrad-Caldwell House, Fort Duffield and Farmington Historic Plantation.
