Eugene is known as the second largest city in Oregon, as well as Lane County´s county seat. The city is also known by its nickname “The Emerald City,” and proceeds with its day to day activities with the motto “The World´s Greatest City of the Arts and Outdoors.”
One of the best known facts of Eugene is that it is the birthplace of the well-known sports brand “Nike, Inc,” Aldus Software (better known as “Adobe Systems”), Taco Time and Broderbund Software. It is no surprise then that a huge number of people in the city are often in pursuit of alternative ideas. In fact, the city rather has a large existing, albeit aging, population of hippies. As it is, the community in Eugene has been noted for leaning towards “community inventiveness.”
Aside from the interesting traits the locals of Eugene have, the city does have a number of points of interest that have caught the interest of tourists and visitors. Some of these attractions include the Museum of Natural and Cultural History, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, Knight Library, Oregon Mozart Players, Hult Center for the Performing Arts, McDonald Theatre and other interesting places.
