Edinburgh is a city in Scotland; it is the capital of the country and is known for its other names: "Auld Reekie" and "Athens of the North" – the former in reference to Old Smokie for the thick smokes of the chimneys in decades past and the latter being due to it being among the centers of the Enlightenment. It also known as "Auld Greekie". It is the second largest city in Scotland and is considered to be among the most picturesque cities of Europe.

Edinburgh has been inhabited by humans even during the Iron and Bronze Ages – as attested by traces of such primitive settlements in the area. Nowadays, the city is divided into two sections – the Old Town and the New Town which are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Attractions in Edinburgh include the King´s Theatre, Bedlam Theatre, Church Hill Theatre, Edinburgh Zoo, Museum of Scotland, the Museum of Edinburgh, the Royal Museum, and the Museum of Childhood.
