Denver is a city in the state of Colorado, USA; it is the most populous state and is also the capital of the state. It is both a county and a city as it has been consolidated. It is nicknamed as The Mile-High City, Wall Street of the West, and the Queen City of the Plains.

It was once a mining town developed during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. Still, it didn´t work well and the settlement was soon abandoned. It was then founded in November 1858 and named after Governor James W. Denver by General William Larimer. Later years saw the development of Denver as it became a center for the agricultural industry in the plains – thus, its name as the Queen City of the Plains.

Denver is home to various historical and art museums – for instance, the Denver Art Museum. Also, attractions such as the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, the Colorado Convention Center, Denver Performing Arts Complex, and others are popular.
