Copenhagen is the capital of – and largest city in – Denmark. Although the city has already been existing even before the 11th century, it only became Denmark´s capital around the 15th century. By the 17th century, it has become an important regional center in the country. Today, it is a major center for media, business, culture, education, and science in the region.

Tourist attractions in Copenhagen include the King´s Garden located in Rosenborg Castle, the Botanical Gardens, Frederiksberg Garden, Copenhagen Zoo, and Fælledparken. Even its cemeteries double as parks – among these, the Assistens Cemetery is considered to be the most popular as it is the place of rest of world-renowned author Hans Christian Andersen.
