Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina, USA; it is the seat of Mecklenburg County and is located under the Appalachian Mountains. The city was named after the German Princess Charlotte of Mecklenberg who, on the year before the birth of the city, became the British King George III´s queen consort. Thus, the city is also known as "Queen City" and the "Crown Town".

The city also gained the title "The Hornet´s Nest" when hostile locals managed to drive British Commander General Cornwallis from his occupation of the city. It is also included in the list of the "Best Places to Live in America", "Walking City", "Five Cities with Big Outdoor Appeal", "Best Places to Live and Launch", among others.

Charlotte is known for its tourist attractions – among these are the Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte´s Carolina Raptor Center, Historic Latta Plantation, Charlotte Museum of History, Backing Up Classic Auto Museum, and Paramount´s Carowinds.
