About Brisbane Flights

Brisbane is the largest city in Queensland, Australia; it also the state´s capital and the third most populous city in the country. The city was named after Sir Thomas Brisbane who was once the Governor of New South Wales and the person who, in 1823, commanded an exploration party to create a penal colony away from New South Wales.

The settlement was first named as Edenglassie but was later changed to Brisbane. Although the area was supposed to be a penal colony, by 1838, non-convict settlements started to grow in the area. Further developments soon shaped the settlement – this must have been successful because by June 6, 1859, it became Queensland´s capital when it became a separate colony.

Brisbane had come a long way from such history to become one of the main business hubs in the country plus being home to almost 2,000,000 inhabitants. The city also has several large universities, numerous hospitals, sports venues, recreational parks (including the world´s first koala sanctuary), and other centers of music, art, culture, history, education, and economy.
