Brasilia is the capital of Brazil; it is also known as the "Capital Federal", "Novacap", and "Belacap". The name was picked to represent the country as "Brasilia" is simply the Latin term for "Brazil". It has "Venturis ventis" (Latin) as its motto – this means "To the coming winds" which is aptly chosen for the city´s airplane shape. The city is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city is actually a planned city and was created to move the country´s capital from Rio de Janeiro to somewhere closer to the country´s center. Although it was President Juscelino Kubitschek who ordered the creation of the city, such a move was actually stated in the country´s 1891 Constitution. Both Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer worked to create the plans for the whole city.

Brasilia is almost symmetrical but the outskirts, which were not part of the original plan, bloomed asymmetrically. Still, careful planning allowed the incorporation of parks into the city. Also, an artificial lake – Lake Paranoá – was created, complete with the unique, grand, and beautiful Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge.
