Albany is the capital city of the state of New York. The city was built on the site of the former Dutch Fort Orange and is known for being the second oldest city in New York after New Amsterdam as to the date of its incorporation.
Albany is known as a “Crossroads City” as the city lies equidistant between Buffalo, Boston, Montreal and New York. Its strategic location has made it a frequent stop for music artists touring the country. In fact, many well-known artists have already performed at the Times Union Center, the city´s largest musical venue.
Aside from the Times Union Center, there are a number of attractions in Albany. These include The New York State Museum, The Palace Theatre, The Egg, Madison Avenue, Lark Street, Broadway, Arbor Hill, Empire State Plaza, Washington Park and many more. Festivals celebrated in the city are often held at these tourist spots such as the Tulip Festival, Fabulous Fourth and Fireworks, African American Family Day, Latin Fest, Albany Jazz Festival, Lark Fest and other yearly events.
