Acapulco is one of the most famous summer destinations of Mexico. The city attracts hundreds of sun worshippers from all over the world, particularly beach lovers from just across the border especially American students on spring break.

Known to locals as Acapulco de Juarez, the city is a major seaport on the Pacific coast of Mexico. This is a popular stop for cruise lines for ships coming from San Francisco and Panama. The city got its name from the Nahuatl word for ‘place of big reeds.’

There are a lot of local attractions in the city apart from its beaches, all within easy access by taxis and buses. Among these are the La Quebrada Cliff Divers, the city town square called the Zocalo, Pie de la Cuesta and CICI. The La Quebrada Cliff divers have been jumping off the cliffs of La Quebrada since the early 1930s for the delight of tourists and no Acapulco trip will be worth it without seeing them in action. Acapulco also has a roaring night life with such places as El Alebrij and Disco Beach designed to cater to both tourists and locals.
