Tips to Spend Less While Shopping on Vacation

Posted September 30,2009 by Gabriella Montoya
Shopping can be a very fun vacation activity, it can also be very costly. Here are some tips on how you can save money while shopping on vacation.
  • Do not be afraid to haggle – Most local fare are often overpriced, especially those sold in stall or by street vendors. A little bit of haggling can get you discounts of up to 50%, sometimes even more. So, haggle away.
  • Stick to a Budget – This can be very difficult, especially when you are eyeing something you just got to have, but in truth don´t really need. A budget can help keep you grounded and help save you a lot of financial woe and guilt at the end of your vacation.
  • Don´t buy what you can´t use and don´t need – Be disciplined. Do not go on being impulsive and buying something that you don´t need and can´t use, no matter how much you convince yourself otherwise.
In addition to the above, it may be best avoid buying stuff sold on the street, especially if you are not a haggler as most of those items are overpriced.
